abdul-razzaqBeleaguered Pakistan cricket team’s attempt to hit bull’s eye in the dark has been successful.  Apparently their written request to the ICC for replacing the injured Yasir Arafat with rebellion all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has been granted and Razzaq is reportedly packing his bags to join the team.

Isn’t that a surprise! Abdul Razzaq, who earlier resigned from the controversial Indian Cricket League (ICL), was initially named in Pakistan’s provisional squad of 30 for the World Twenty20 but later on his name was struck off along with Imran Nazir and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan after ICC raised an objection.

The ICC has forwarded the request to World Twenty20 technical committee which may be perceived as an ‘evasive action’ to avoid itself being cornered on the issue. The ICC may again find itself in the middle of a storm as it initially refused to accept Razzaq’s name in the provisional squad and forced PCB to withdraw it.

The question that this whole saga raises is whether it’s within rules to allow a replacement that was not even in the provisional squad of 30.
